Producers are seeking the following types:
AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE EXTRAS AGES 18+ WITH SUIT SIZES 38-44 AND WAIST 36 OR SMALLER ARE NEEDED TO PORTRAY 1927!! (Last big day for Extras!)
Denzel Washington revealed nearly a half-decade ago, his plans to produce 10 of August Wilson’s plays, which consists of 10 plays portraying the 20th century African American experience, from the early 1900s, just after slavery and the Civil War, to the 1990s, into feature films. He first started with the film adaptation of Wilson’s “Fences”.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a 1982 play – one of the ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle by August Wilson – that chronicles the twentieth century African American experience. The play is set in Chicago in the 1920s, and centers around issues of race, religion and the historic exploitation of black recording artists by white producers.
How to apply:
African American Male extras ages 18+ with suit sizes 38-44 and waist 36 or smaller are needed to portray 1927.
This scene will film on Monday, July 29th in the East Hills area of Pittsburgh so you must have a car to get to set. It will be an EARLY morning calltime and last for 12-14 hours so must have ENTIRE day free with no appointments or conflicts. Pays $10 per hour for the first 8 hours and time and half after that! $$$
***Hair is very important on this film. Must be willing to have hair or facial hair cut or trimmed, if needed to fit the time period.
**Everyone MUST be able to attend a wardrobe fitting next week in the Churchill area.
